Definition:
Reader = ECE, School, Institution, Book Group, Individual Readers.
The following are specific to ‘BookTalks’ (www.booktalks.org.nz).
Making a booking
Once a booking has been made and confirmed it is the responsibility of the reader(s), author/Illustrator to carry out the booked Skype session.
No sessions should be booked between authors/illustrators and readers outside of this booking system without prior approval from CORE Education Ltd.
Author registration
Authors/illustrators who wish to participate in ‘BookTalks’ need to register and contact CORE Education Ltd, where they verify authors/illustrators are authentic. CORE Education Ltd has the authority to cancel any author/illustrator/readers’ participation if they are breaching Terms and Conditions outlined.
Skype session
When planning and preparing for your Skype call, the reader and author/illustrator should be ideally ready 10 minutes prior to commencement of the Skype session.
Any session that is not attended by either the reader or by the author/illustrator may jeopardise their continued participation on the BookTalks site.
It is important to finish the session by the booked time. The session may continue by mutual arrangement by the reader(s) and author/illustrator, however it must be agreed upon before the session continues. If the session is extended there will be a charge for the time. Once a session is over it is up to the author/illustrator to submit an invoice to CORE Education Ltd for payment.
Technical support is available weekdays from 8am – 4pm. BookTalks sessions can run outside of these hours but there will be no additional technical support.
It is the responsibility of the reader(s) and authors/illustrators to have the appropriate equipment, software and Internet connectively to enable sessions to be conducted.
Invoice and Payment
Once a Skype session has finished it is the author/illustrator responsibility to send an invoice for the session and inform CORE Education Ltd if any additional time has to be charged.
If a Skype session runs short of the booked time there will be NO refund and the school/reader will be billed for the full amount booked.
The amount payable for each session is set by the author/illustrator.
The amount payable to the author/illustrator is GST exclusive.
Authors/Illustrators will be paid on the 21st of the month.
Cancellations and Alterations
If you wish to cancel your booking for any reason, you must notify BookTalks at least 14 days or more prior to your scheduled session there will be no charge for cancelled bookings within this time. Should you cancel or wish to change the dates or time of your session after the 14 day’s grace perid , the full fee for the booking will be charged. So choose your dates carefully.
Transferring a confirmed booking from one date/time to another will incur a $15 administration fee. Please select your dates/times carefully. Please note transferring a booking is only permitted 14 days or more prior to the booking date/time, this is otherwise deemed to be a cancellation.
Bookings may be cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances, and factors that are outside CORE Education Ltd’s control. If your booking is cancelled we will endeavour to book you into an alternative time that suits both the reader and author/illustrator, however CORE Education Ltd takes no responsibility if this is not possible.
Technical
CORE Education Ltd cannot guarantee that the authors/illustrators and schools Internet connections are reliable. CORE is not, responsible for lost connections or problems using Skype.
DISCLAIMER
We reserve the right, at our discretion, to change, modify, add, or remove portions from this terms and conditions at any time so you are encouraged to review this policy from time to time. We will, of course, notify you of any changes where we are required to do so.
